Charm City Cakes

Confession - I love Ace of Cakes. I am a huge fan of business owners with personality and Duff definitely has it. Not sure if you guys watch, but you can catch Ace of Cakes on the Food Network every Thursday at 9.

Last time I was in Baltimore (my sister-in-law used to live there) I SWORE I saw Mary Smith at the airport, but in retrospect, I am not so sure. Don't worry, I didn't stalk....only stared. Alot.

Anyway, here are some of the coolest cakes:

Remember Operation? According to the website, this cake was even operational (no pun intended). This is cake - not crayons. Fabulous!

I have a soft spot in my heart for any proposal. And, a Proposal + Legos + Cake = Total Cuteness.

I am also intrigued by cakes that look like food....

And, this is so realistic looking to me!

Since a Duff Goldman cake would be fantastic but would most likely break the bank ($1,000 minimum order -- hello!) Tulsa has some great cake decorators here.

My favorite local cake baker is Jennifer Jones with Icing on the Top. She did my sister's wedding cake, my sister-in-law's wedding cake and has done some other super-cute cakes for showers and parties for all of us. She is meticulous and her cakes are fabulous. Check out her site. She is so good!

For Tommy's 30th birthday, I want to do a cake where the actual cake is a poker table and sitting around it are fondant/chocolate figures of our dogs, Carter & Pudge, my sister's dog, Lily, my sister-in-law's dog and my mom's 2 goldens. It would be perfect -- dog's playing poker! Two of Tommy's favorite things. Fortunately I have a good year to work on this because Tommy doesn't even turn 29 until next week...
