Rate My Space

I watch this show on HGTV but have never actually checked out the site. Mainly because I cannot fit one more piece of furniture in my little house. But, it never occurred to me to look on the site to help my sister with her nursery.

Lucky for me (well, more Allison) my friend Megan sent me a link to the nursery her sister-in-law designed for their baby and put on Rate My Space. They don't know the sex of the baby yet but the room will be perfect for a little boy or girl. I have copied her description and pictures. She is sooo talented and I absolutely LOVE this room! After this she may have a full time job doing nursery design!

This wonderful woodland themed nursery was creatively collaborated with help from my mom and sister. My mom painted the trunk of the tree, made the baby quilt and curtains for the room and my sister and I designed and created the woodland creatures on the tree and walls by using scrapbook paper. I wanted to do something gender neutral so the main colors in the nursery are yellows and greens.

The t-shirt shag rug was purchased online at Target.com and the green and white baskets and lampshade where all found at Target. I cut out snails from the accent fabric used on the curtains and ironed them on the lamp to stick with the theme of the nursery. I also ironed on coordinating ribbon to the top of each basket.

The bee hive pendent light fixture was made by using a Japanese lantern I found at World Market and attaching bees found in the scrapbooking section of Hobby Lobby.

This bird was a design on one of the scrapbooking pages I purchased. I cut her out and put her above the window for some added flair.

My mom made the curtains out of green polka dot fabric we found at Jo Ann’s. The peapod and snail (Anna Griffin) accent fabric used for the rolled up portion of the curtains came from a fabric store specializing in vintage fabrics. I was able to find a wide rickrack blue ribbon at a crafts store to secure the rolled up portion of the curtains.

  1. I am now addicted to rate my space! I have been on there looking at all kinds of rooms...some of them have made me feel a little better about my own lack of decorating skill (not nice, but true). I am so lucky to have such a talented sister-in-law. Hopefully she will be willing to help me out when the time comes for Baby Brown.
