38 Week Bumpdate

So my computer has officially died. This is all being posted from my phone, so I hope this works!
How Far Along: 38 Weeks
Total Weight Gain/Loss: 20 pounds. However, I have been STARVING, so who knows!
Gender: It's a girl!
Movement: She loves to move and she really loves it when I am eating. Ha! (You will detect a theme in this post.)
Sleep: I was up and down and up and down all nights throughout the weekend, but had a 5 hour stretch last night, so that was great.
I think Carter is sensing that the baby is coming because he comes to my side of the bed in the middle of the night and does the most pathetic (yet cute) whine for me to pet him. He is also sleeping part of the night on my side of the bed and then will move to his pad on Tommy's side. Poor little guy.
Maternity Clothes: Basically, all maternity except for dresses and some tops. Remember when I thought I could get away with no maternity wear? Bhaaahaa!!!!
Symptoms: Um, can you develop motion sickness while pregnant? And you are the one driving? Because, yeah, I think I have that.
I may have startled the pregnancy waddle. So help me. It's usually only after I've been sitting so maybe that's excusable.
Also, I went to the doctor on Thursday and when he checked me he said I was still dilated to a one and 50% effaced (not a 3 and 75% like the nurse at the hospital told me) like the week prior. So obviously "checking" is a very exact science and is to be trusted.
Aversions: I am really just not that into vegetables (luckily, fruit rings my bell). Fried food still really does nothing for me.
Cravings: Sushi, pizza (still haven't had any yet but have lots of opportunities to this week), sweets, sweets and more sweets. Iris is having us over for dinner tonight and I made these Ghiradelli Brownie S'mores for dessert and I won't lie when I say I have been looking forward to them all day.
Best Moment this week: Hearing her heart beat, of course. Also, I am just being real here, but my niece had her third birthday party this past weekend (which was adorable and I cannot wait to show you all pictures) and one of the highlights was the Great American Cookie cake - like huge highlight.

37 Week Bumpdate

How Far Along: 37 Weeks (Tommy was cracking me up when this picture was taken!)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 18-19 pounds It seems to fluctuate

Gender: It’s a girl!

Movement: Today she was quite a mover, yesterday she was tired. I love to feel her move, though!

Sleep: I had a glorious night of sleep Saturday night. I slept until 9 on Sunday, which was just awesome. The rest is just “meh.”

Maternity Clothes: Basically, all maternity except for dresses and some tops.

Symptoms: Oh symptoms. Let’s see – at my doctor’s appointment on Thursday I was dilated to a 1+ and 50% effaced. I had a sharp pain in my side, which I asked the doctor if he thought it was a blood clot. (Have I mentioned that I have a flair for the dramatics?) When he asked if I was having contractions, I told him “no.” Then he asked me what I thought my blood clot was. Oooooh, so that is a contraction! I had no idea they weren’t all over. Clearly, I have NO clue what I am doing.

Yesterday I went to the hospital because I had some light bleeding (which ends up being totally normal when your cervix is thinning…wish I would have known that before they checked me again) and I was dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. The nurse was really sweet, but told me she didn’t think there was any way this baby was going to make it until October. I am hoping she cooperates a little longer for me, but I am living with the motto of “there’s nothing I can do about it.”

Aversions: Still fried foods.

Cravings: I finally bit the bullet and made my puppy chow/muddy buddies. I have also been craving fruit and pizza.

Best Moment this week: Getting her bedding! I am just in love with it and am so glad her room is pretty much together!

Also, my husband has been so sweet and supportive. He has been helping me a ton so that I don’t overdo it and I am very appreciative of how sweet he has been. (Not that he usually isn’t, but he has really, really been helpful this past week!)

Emmy’s Nursery

I am pretty much finished with Emmy’s nursery (and let’s be honest, it will be like every other room in my house – it will never be “done”). So I thought I would go ahead and share!

As you walk in:

I made the two photos on the left to mimic the focal wall. I love how they turned out! I just bought the background and images on iStockPhoto to reflect the dogs and babushkas, which are Tommy and my two favorite things. (Well, Tommy couldn’t care less about a babushka, but he is certainly into the dogs!) I wanted to put these on the wall with her crib, but they were way too small for the scale of the wall. I still have no idea what to put there…but will take your suggestions when we get to that wall!

Here is her crib. I am obsessed with the bedding. I had it made on Etsy by Little Charlie May and I couldn’t be more pleased with it! She was awesome to work with…I changed the hot pink fabric about 4 times (no lie), but I am so in love with the final product!

This is just a huge wall with nothing flanking either side of the crib (cropped because the wall seriously looks boring), so if you have any great ideas, I am all open!

Here’s another picture of the bedding that Annie took where you can better see the ruffle up top:

Her bookshelf also kind of pulls in the quatrefoil that is featured throughout the room. Both the quatrefoil and “E” above her bed were purchased from Etsy seller Designed Beginnings.

View of her changing table. My mom made the “E” button (which is so super cute) and it fit in perfectly!

Here’s a close up of the photos. I made the You are my Sunshine, Love You and Every Good and Perfect Gift images. The round frame will include her “stats.”

The flowers on the lamp shade were made by Teal & Co.

And for fun, here are a few pics from her bathroom. My sister gave me these cute photos for Christmas last year and I am so excited I can use them in her room!

When my dad was sick in the hospital, he drew my sister and I each a picture for Christmas that year. It goes perfectly with the color of the babushkas, and I am so glad I can something he worked on in her room.

Special thanks to my mom, mother-in-law and sister who helped me so much making her room a perfect place. I just love to be in there and know she will too!

Oh, also, if anyone has any good mobile ideas that would go with the room, let me know. I haven’t found anything I just loved yet! (Granted, I have only looked at Pottery Barn Kids and Buy Buy Baby, so I am likely missing out!)

36 Week Bumpdate

How Far Along: 36 Weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 18 pounds, but my only work out from here on out will be walking the dog, so we will soon see how that works for me!

Gender: It’s a girl!

Movement: She was a major mover this past week. Still loves my right rib!

Sleep: Again, hit or miss. I only got up once last night, which hasn’t happened in ages. But on the flipside, I made Tommy sleep on the couch earlier in the week because I could not get past him snoring.

Maternity Clothes: Basically, all maternity except for dresses and some tops.

Symptoms: Well, let’s see – I think I had one contraction. Either that or it was a charlie horse in my lower abs. I will give myself credit for only mildly panicking. And I had some other “progression,” which is too gross to discuss here. There were tears shed over that one. I guess I have been living in denial that a stork was just going to deliver this baby.

Aversions: Still fried foods.

Cravings: Sweets and cereal. And this so sooooo random, but I was in the grocery store the other day and I saw veggie corn dogs and HAD to have them. They are actually pretty darn good with mustard. Who knew!?

I am also craving puppy chow/muddy buddies. I bought all of the ingredients, but haven’t let myself make them yet.

Best Moment this week: Having time to relax this weekend and finish up some last minute things to get ready for her (like installing the car seat bases and packing). I should get my bedding tomorrow, so I am super excited about that! But my to-do list is ever growing.

35 week bumpdate

How Far Along: 35 Weeks

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I was weighed on a true doctor’s scale on Thursday and was up 17 pounds, so we are going with that.

Gender: It’s a girl!

Movement: She still loves my upper right rib!

Sleep: It is hit or miss. Some days are great, some notsomuch. Last night was a total bust. However, I had a nice time catching up on all of my sleep this past long weekend!

Maternity Clothes: Basically, all maternity except for dresses and some tops.

Symptoms: Mild reflux. (What in the world?) Also, bending over isn’t quite what it used to be.

Aversions: None really!

Cravings: Sweets, sweets and more sweets. I haven’t been too bad, but if I indulge, I am like an addict and want more, more, more. My stash on hand is semi-sweet chocolate chips. It could be worse, right?

Also, cereal always sounds good. But that I loved cereal as a snack pre-pregnancy, too.

Best Moment this week: It was sooooo nice to have a long weekend to get ready! I am still nowhere near feeling prepared, but her clothes are washed, her room is ready except for her bedding and all of her bottles, pacifiers, etc. are clean.

Annnnd!!! I just got an email that my bedding is shipping tomorrow! I am soooo excited!!!! I will post pics as soon as it is in. She sent a picture and it looks awesome! I cannot wait!

Tommy and I are really prepping for baby Emmy. Last night we watched Happiest Baby on the Block. It was only 30 minutes and really was educational. I learned some good tips and some psychology of how baby’s work. Tonight we are taking a Baby Care 101 class at the hospital. My hopes are that this will get Tommy more confident with diaper changes :). We will see…
