Three Weeks
Sooooo…everyone said babies are hard work. They weren’t lying. Our first few weeks have been full of ups and downs. My prayers have changed dramatically. I got this bible verse today and it is definitely how I feel. I am so grateful for her, but definitely need God’s help more than ever. Ha! I was warned :), but certainly thought I would have an easy baby. HA!!!!!
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7
Luckily she is super cute. The pictures below are from our photo shoot with Addie. She did a beautiful job. Of course, the subject is just precious!
When Tommy was little his grandmother would buy him Steiff bears. We won this one at an auction and I thought it would be fun to watch her grow with it. And she has her eyes open! I think she might be a brown-eyed girl like her mommy and daddy.
This picture is also really special to me. My aunt sent some maternity clothes up from my cousin and included this blanket. To be honest, I wasn’t really sure why she sent it. Later I found out it was my dad’s blanket from when he was a baby, so I definitely wanted to include it in our photo shoot.
Emmy’s three week likes:
- Eating
- Sleeping
- Cuddling
- Taking walks in her stroller and riding in her car seat
- White noise and shushing
We do call her our little Princess and the Pea. She is particular! :) For example, when we walk she prefers to be on the street rather than the sidewalk…the bumps wake her up! Ha!
We are hoping to hit our stride with her soon, but do love our little blessing so much!
Oh she is adorable! And what special pics with such special memories attached! That is so neat to have the bear and your Dad's blanket! So sweet! I'm not sure how we could be parents without God's help and knowing that He is always here! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are doing great!! She is just beautiful. What a fun set of pictures you will have to treasure.
ReplyDeleteThe shushing saved our life. True story. Our daughter loved it. Each week gets better and better!!!!
Oh, Katie!! Emmy is just so precious, beautiful, adorable . . . and everything sweet!! I know it's very dificult at first, but hopefully it will get better soon. I'm so very happy that you were able to use your dad's blanket in the photo shoot!! Too sweet!!
ReplyDeleteLove you, Aunt Angie
P.S. Glad to see a post!!
I can't even imagine what it's like to bring a newborn home from the hospital, but I guess I will know in a few months! It seems so scary. Hang in there! The pictures are absolutely beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThose pics are just heavenly! Those first few weeks are the.hardest.ever. Someone once told me that she would often ask herself what she thought she could get on ebay for her newborn and I totally thought she was the anti-christ. Then I had kids.... and thought maybe Pinterest or Etsy would be a better avenue. It's tough and tiring and frustrating and lovely all at the same time. But in a couple weeks when sweet girl starts to smile, you will really start to feel your hard work pay off. Then, one day, when you have to smell your hand to investigate the age-old "is it chocolate or poop" question, thus will begin a different type of questions. Then again, you have a girl, so you will probably land on the better side of that one.
ReplyDeleteI read your post and it all came flooding back to me how big of an adjustment it was! It does get better, though its then replaced with new hard things (and new fun things too!).
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Adorable-ness!! Such great pics! Seriously, having a baby has to be the biggest adjustment ever. I know you guys will get into a groove soon! Let me know if I can help with anything!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures! She is so cute! I know people said it would be hard, but I guess it something that you can't really understand until you are there.
ReplyDeleteI love her hair bands - can you post where you got them? I have a little girl on the way and would love to get some!
ReplyDeleteOMG I have been so out of the loop - congrats on your baby girl!! Love the name - and she's gorgeous!! I have to ask, where did you get those cute little rosette headbands? And I love the photo with your Dad's blanket -- so special. Looking forward to getting back into the blog world and hearing more about your life in mama-hood!! Congrats again!
